# FAQ

## Do I need an AWS account?

Yes, on Starter. Your app runs in your account and AWS bills you directly. Hosted plans, where we run it for you, are coming soon.

## Can I use SQLite?

Not in production. The container's disk is wiped on every deploy and restart. Use Postgres. See [Databases](/django-cloud-docs/guides/databases.md).

## Where do my uploaded files go?

Not on local disk. Use object storage such as Amazon S3. See [the ephemeral container](/django-cloud-docs/how-it-works/ephemeral-container.md).

## Can I deploy on every push?

Yes. [Connect GitHub](/django-cloud-docs/getting-started/github.md) and pick a branch.

## Can I deploy from CI?

Yes, with an API token. See [Deploy from CI](/django-cloud-docs/getting-started/ci.md).

## How do I undo a bad deploy?

Roll back to an earlier release. Code rolls back, but database migrations don't. See [Releases and rollbacks](/django-cloud-docs/how-it-works/releases-and-rollbacks.md).

## Does it support websockets or ASGI?

Yes. If your project has an ASGI app (every `startproject` does), it is started with uvicorn, and websockets work with Channels or your own consumers. Open connections are closed on every deploy and restart. See [Build settings](/django-cloud-docs/how-it-works/build-settings.md).

## Which Python and Django versions?

Python 3.10 to 3.13. The CLI needs Django 4.2 or newer.

## Where is my data?

Your app and its data live in the AWS region you choose, in your account. See [Regions](/django-cloud-docs/reference/regions.md).

## Something isn't working

See [Troubleshooting failed deploys](/django-cloud-docs/troubleshooting/failed-deploys.md), or ask in [Slack](/django-cloud-docs/community-and-support/support.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://django-cloud.gitbook.io/django-cloud-docs/reference/faq.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
